Kevin Renfro

Renfro Productions has been a producer of some of the finest consumer trade shows in the outdoor industry for over 58 years. Over the course of the last 25 years, Kevin has helped to develop and establish this “family driven” company into a top producer in the consumer show industry. A company that is recognized and familiar to hundreds of thousands of people in the heart of America: A name that exhibitors and the public trust.

Kevin grew up in this business doing everything from sweeping floors and working concession stands to setting up booths. Kevin knows and understands the ins and outs of every aspect of producing successful trade shows. Growing up in rural Indiana and being immersed at a young age to hunting and fishing, Kevin has developed a deep understanding of and a strong affinity for the outdoor industry. He is a show promoter who clearly “walks the walk and talks the talk”; always striving to know what is important and relevant for businesses relating to the outdoors. The biggest satisfaction that Kevin derives from this business is having exhibitors and consumers come together, and watching a mutual exchange of satisfaction and excitement.

Kevin has been married for over 21 years to his wife Joanne. He is the proud father of three children: Mitch, Bailee, and Sophia. As a family they enjoy every aspect of the great outdoors.

Kevin has been a working contributor to his family’s business from an early age doing basic tasks until today as a primary owner and president—always striving to develop his family’s “homegrown” business into some of the most outstanding consumer shows in the country.

What is your best piece of advice to someone coming to a Renfro show?

I think the best advice for someone coming out to the show would be come out in the middle of the week. If you want to talk to exhibitors and really have time to see and interact with all of the resources at the shows, the slower days are the best.

What is the best kept secret at the shows?

If I told you it wouldn’t be a secret!!

Mark Kaley

Mark Kaley is the Financial Officer and an owner of Renfro Productions and Management. Mark, his brothers and the Renfro staff produce one of the most innovative, largest, and arguably best Sport Show businesses in the country.

Mark has always been an outdoor enthusiast having grown up around boats, fishing and travel. After graduating from Central Michigan University, Mark was a Glacier National Park Ranger, where he spent several years conducting wolf and mountain goat research. As a Park Ranger, he engaged in many outdoor activities including hiking, climbing, backpacking, horse and mule packing (those damn mules), wilderness rescue, and paddling in Glacier’s Wild and Scenic Rivers. His Glacier life experiences contributed to Mark becoming a lifelong multiple Quiet Sport enthusiast. The development of the Quiet Sports Expo as part of the Sport Show is one of the most exciting aspects of Mark’s current work.

Mark is married to Gayle and they have three daughters who are outdoor wilderness enthusiasts (albeit to varying degrees). A recent week long family trip to Quetico Park canoe trekking is one of the highlights of Mark’s quiet sport experiences.

What is your best piece of advice to someone coming to a Renfro show?

Spend some time planning your trip. There is so much going on between seminars, exhibitors and entertainment that some pre-planning will make the visit more productive.

What is the best kept secret at the shows?

All the knowledge of the exhibitors. There are hundreds of exhibitors with years of experience waiting to just talk about what they do and the best ways to get started.

Todd Jameson

Todd Jameson works on all things marketing oriented for Renfro Productions and Management and has assisted with the production of the Indiana Deer, Turkey and Waterfowl Expo and the Indiana Motorcycle Expo since 2007.

With more than 25 years’ experience as an event manager in the consumer show industry Todd is a veteran show producer and enjoys helping exhibitors and sponsors meet or exceed their goals at any of the Renfro events.

For many years Todd was very active in the professional development of the consumer show industry and served numerous years on the NACS (National Association of Consumer Shows) board of directors and as its president for 2 years. During his years of involvement at NACS Todd presented the organization at numerous national and international industry conferences and was keenly focused on raising the professional image and standards of the consumer show industry.

What is your best piece of advice to someone coming to a Renfro show?

The shows are huge and are likely to be the biggest event you’ve ever attended so here are a few pointers: Visit our website before you attend so you can make sure you’re attending on a day when you can take part in some of our free seminars or classes. At our shows you can meet some of the biggest names in the world of the great outdoors, you don’t want to arrive only to find out your favorite sportsman was there yesterday or is arriving tomorrow so plan ahead and check out our schedules carefully. Wear your most comfortable shoes- the show is 6 buildings and over 650,000 square feet of floor space. In advance write up a few questions you have for the experts at the show so you’ll be sure to remember to get them answered. At any point in the show there are as many 3000 experts in their booths all interested in talking with you, so no matter what your level of interest is we have experts you can learn from. Come to the show and plan to spend as many hours as you can with us. The show is so big you might want to buy a two day pass so you can come back to enjoy it more as your schedule permits. Each weekend has a different (3 day- Fri- Sun) show associated with it, the first weekend is the Indiana Deer, Turkey & Waterfowl Expo and the second weekend host the Indiana Motorcycle Expo all included in your Ford Indpls Boat Sport & Travel Show ticket. Last but not least bring your friends. The fun is multiplied when you bring your family and friends along..

What is the best kept secret at the shows?

Most people think there is a huge staff behind the screens making things happen and that’s not the case we’re a staff of 7 people strong. We produce the show totally in-house, plan and organize every aspect of the event, plan and implement the advertising campaigns, organize the seminars – you name it, we do it. Nothing is left to chance; we are seasoned consumer trade show professionals.

Janine Lawton

Janine started working for Renfro Productions in the fall of 2005 as a part time assistant to the Marketing Director. Over the course of the next 6 years, she has become a full time employee and is in charge of media buying, supervising ad production and pitching in whenever needed on any new project that comes along. Janine has been married for over 34 years to her husband Brian. They have 3 children, Garrett, Ann and Ethan. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and traveling.

What is your best piece of advice to someone coming to a Renfro show?

Allow yourself a lot of time to see it all. Also, go into EVERY building. Even if you don’t think that there will be something in a particular building that interests you, I guarantee that you’ll find at least one thing (probably more) in that building that applies to you.
